Men's Cross Country Continues to Bring in Top American Talent

Cross Country continues to build its program around local athletes from Arizona and its surround states.  Two more athletes were signed, one from New Mexico and the other from Nevada, to help CAC aim to improve on their 9th place team finish at the NJCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championship.

"I enjoy bringing in local athletes from our state and surrounding states"  Stated Head Coach Jon Harmon, who enters his 15th year with the program. "Carson and Max are two recruits in which I'm excited to see their growth this upcoming season."

Max Lopez from St. Pius in NM and Carson Wetzel from Shadow Ridge in NV will be joining the Vaqueros in the fall.

Max's father, Simon, ran for the University of New Mexico so his strength and talent runs deep. His personal bests are: 5k-16:29, 3200m-9:42, 1600m-4:27. Max was 29th at the 2024 4A State Cross Country Championship, respectively.

Carson comes from a traditionally strong distance program in Shadow Ridge; his personal bests are: 5k-15:13, 1600m-4:15, 800-1:54.  Carson was Runner-Up at the 2024 5A State Cross Country Championship, respectively.
