Track and Field Shines at PVCC Indoor Invitational with Eight New National Qualifiers

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Central Arizona College Track & Field continued its dominant early‑season momentum at the PVCC Indoor Invitational, turning in a series of standout performances that produced eight new NJCAA national qualifying marks. The Vaqueros and Vaqueras impressed across sprints, hurdles, relays, and field events, reinforcing their status as one of the nation's top programs.

Sprints & Hurdles: National Leaders Emerge

The meet opened with a statement performance from Richard Hall, who captured the men's 60m hurdles title in 8.02. The mark secures his spot at the NJCAA Indoor Championships and ranks him No. 5 nationally.

On the women's side, Mickayla Gardener delivered one of the most dominant sprint doubles of the day. She won the 60m dash in 7.46 — the No. 2 time in the NJCAA — and returned to take the 200m in 24.14, now No. 3 in the nation. Both performances easily surpassed the national qualifying standard.

Teammate Arianna Carry added another national qualifier in the women's 60m, earning silver in 7.54, a time that ranks her No. 7 nationally.

Long Sprints: Depth on Display in the 400m

The Vaqueros showcased impressive depth in the men's 400m, producing two national qualifiers:

  • Antonio Carrola — 48.04 (No. 15 NJCAA)
  • Bryan Thomas — 48.13 (No. 17 NJCAA)

Both athletes secured their championship berths with strong early‑season marks.

The men's 4x400m relay delivered one of the meet's most exciting moments, clocking a season‑best 3:12.92. The time comfortably meets the NJCAA qualifying standard and launches the Vaqueros to No. 5 in the nation, positioning the squad as a legitimate title contender.

Field Events: Constable Continues to Rise

In the throws, Shyla Mae Constable turned in a standout performance in the women's weight throw. Her mark of 15.59m earned a second‑place finish and surpassed the national qualifying standard of 15.07m. Constable now ranks No. 5 in the NJCAA, adding another championship‑bound athlete to the Vaqueras roster.

With eight new qualifiers added to an already strong lineup, Central Arizona College is building significant momentum heading into championship season. The Vaqueros will return home next weekend to host the Central Arizona Indoor Invitational on Saturday, January 31, before shifting their focus toward the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for March 6–7, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas.
