A small portion of the track team competed at the 2026 Al Shirley Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Pima Community College.  The meet was named after NJCAA and CAC Hall of Fame Coach Al Shirley who passed away in 2025.  Before passing, Coach Shirley was at Pima Community College.

Results:

600 meter:

Faith Martinez-1:50.41 which is a new personal record. Faith placed 5th out of 6 runners.

Carson Wetzel-1:24.05 which is a new personal record. This is also the 11th fastest time run all-time by a CAC Athlete. Carson placed 11th out of 21 runners.

800 meter:

Hannah Hammer-2:29.52, this is the 17th fastest time run all-time (Indoor) by a CAC Athlete. Hannah placed 2nd out of 8 runners.

Tyara Hernandez-2:33.04, Tyara placed 4th.

Larisa Hernandez-2:39.61, Larisa placed 6th.

Justin Escanuela-2:11.80, Justin placed 9th out of 9 runners.

1000 meter:

Lillian Kamm-3:20.25, which is a new personal record. This is the 11th fastest time run all-time by a CAC Athlete. Lillian placed 3rd out of 6 runners.

Larisa Hernandez-3:32.13 which is a new personal record. This is the 15th fastest time run all-time by a CAC Athlete. Larisa placed 6th.

Emmanuel Simiyu-2:38.85 which is a new personal record. This is the 12th fastest time run all-time by a CAC Athlete. Emmanuel placed 4th out of 22 runners.

Gabrial Escanuela-2:39.52 which is a new personal record. This is the 13th fastest time run all-time by a CAC Athlete. Gabrial placed 7th.

Micah Peynando-2:42.95 which is a new personal record. This is the 18th fastest time run all-time by a CAC Athlete. Micah placed 13th.

Jusin Escanuela-2:52.10 which is a new personal record. Justin placed 18th.

5000 meter:

Joyce Hernandez-19:28.45, this is the 15th fastest time run all-time by a CAC Athlete. Joyce placed 1st out of 5 runners.

Lorelai Yanez Perea-21:19.00 which is a new personal record. Lorelai placed 2nd.
